    For more than 20 years, Living Edge has provided Australian architects and designers the ideas, inspiration, and solutions that enable them to create authentic, inviting and highly functional living and working spaces.  

    On Friday February 15, coinciding with celebrating 10 years operating in WA, Living Edge was proud to open the door of our new (relocated) showroom space. With valued local Architects, designers, friends and family in attendance, it was our pleasure to host a grand celebration of this achievement. We sat with Aidan Mawhinney, Living Edge CEO, to discuss the exciting expansion,

    •  What has Living Edge’s presence been in WA?  

    A - "We have been operating in WA for 10 years now. Having started primarily as a Commercial Furniture company, as the company has transformed so has our offering in WA. Our original location in Northbridge was city fringe and probably not ideal for our growing consumer and retail audience. With the recent drop off in the resource sector availability of better located premises with better lease terms allowed us to get into the CBD." 

    • What was the inspiration behind the relocation?  

    A - "The new showroom at 7 Queen Street, Perth, 6000 is very close to the design community for our commercial business, and yet a very central location to cater to our retail consumers. It basically much more convenient to our target audience than our previous location. The street is beside the newly finished Raine Square precinct which is one to watch as larger high-end retail brands move in. The building is from early 1900’s and we have been involved with the owners in its recent transformation to what it is today, throughout an extensive renovation and update. "

    • How does the space reflect the Living Edge brand? 

    A - "As with all our showrooms, we try to find heritage stock, something with history, and yet something that is still very relevant today. We have found this in Queen Street. Echoing our own values in ‘Furniture for Life’, we believe in longevity, of simplicity and of sustainability. This building reflects all those attributes that we look for in everything we do."

    • What is the retail concept of the showroom?  

    A - "Our showrooms now follow the concept we introduced in our Sydney HQ and Flagship showroom. We segregate the showroom by brand giving the consumers an immersive experience in each brand we represent from across the globe. We also have an extensive Retail accessories area which is continually growing, where we display some of the best design pieces available – something anyone can experience without specific brand knowledge." 

    • How are you catering to customer experience? 

    A - "For both trade and consumer, our intended experience is to bring some of the world’s most prominent design brands and package them in a meaningful and immersive way, resembling exactly what we do in Queensland, New South Wales and Victoria. A consistent experience for every Living Edge customer nationally. Global brands to a remote global city."

    • What are some of the highlights of the showroom? 

    A - "I’d highlight two main elements. The basement level as a whole is a beautiful space, reminiscent of a speakeasy bar it exudes warmth cosiness, but with a touch of Living Edge luxury. On the top level the 608-bottle wine wall from Elite to Be in Bronzato metal finish to match the burnished steel kitchen is also quite a spectacle!"

    • What is the significance of WELL certification to the showroom and Living Edge brand? 

    A - "WELL certification is important to us as an organisation showing that we adhere to our sustainability values and this gets recognised by an industry body. To feel we have been able to influence the base build in the use of materials and the processes used in the renovation work to achieve certification is something we are very proud of. To be the second WELL certified building in the city of Perth (after Woodside) is certainly something again to be proud of."

    • What is the vision for the future of Living Edge in WA? 

    A - "With our new location, its increased size (now 950sqm) and our new brands we see our appeal to the design savvy becoming much more relevant and easier to find than ever before. We feel this new location is in celebration of our already 10 years of operation here on the West Coast, and we look forward to cementing our position as the premier design location in Perth. In WA we have a team of 7, although working in Commercial and Retail, our philosophy is the same. The customer is our focal point. Whether it’s a large corporate client of someone buying for their home the Living Edge experience should be one of knowledge and an ease to do business with. 

    I'd like to extend a thank you to everyone who attended our grand opening event. We invite everyone to come for a tour of the showroom, as we could not have done this without the dedicated support of our Perth local architects designers and retail clientele, the space is a further offering in service of our contintued business."
