The warmest of welcomes at Design Post held during IMM Cologne.

IMM Cologne, held from Monday 14 to Sunday 20 January, is the first interiors show of the year to present the trends that will shape the furniture and interiors sector for the year. Extremis, showcasing their new designs this year at Design Post, wants you to know that while the fair can be hectic, you’re guaranteed a thoroughly warm welcome at the Extremis Design Post stand. In fact, it’s the perfect spot to relax and unwind after a frenetic day exploring the vast exhibition buildings - with or without a Tremist house beer in hand. Extremis is a must see at Design Post and will occupy two entire floors of this former post office building crammed with designer brands.

It was purely and simply out of love that at the end of the eighties Dirk Wynants, an interior designer and son of a furniture maker, moved from his native region north of Antwerp to the other side of the country. After having settled down in one of the most rural parts of West Flanders, his passion for design pushed him to create Extremis, a furniture range offering so much more than just furniture. Extremis is a brand with a vision. A brand with a mission. A brand that breathes innovation.

Innovate or die “Create nothing unless it is both necessary and functional. And if this is the case, do not hesitate to make it beautiful.” This principle always adhered to by the Shaker communities perfectly sums up what Extremis does. Extremis does not aspire to simply put beautiful outdoor furniture on the market. Extremis makes “tools” that make life better. More pleasant. These tools must always be functional. And above all always better than the products already available. In Extremis’ designs every single aspect is the fruit of careful consideration. And each design is always a feast for the eye

Extremis has a mission: combining intelligent design based on Flemish common sense with our famous Burgundian lifestyle. How? By creating a whole range of extraordinary outdoor furniture uniting exceptional functionality and timeless design. The result? Much more than just a furniture range: a lifestyle that brings people together. That lets them enjoy life together. The slogan Tools for togetherness (or Tu’g vo thope te zi’n in the local dialect) has not been chosen randomly.

Introducing BISTROO Enjoy a continental breakfast or delicious hors d’oeuvres at the table. The specially designed hole in the table is the ideal place for the garçon to leave a tray of herbs and condiments. No need to worry about your fork falling through the slats of rickety tables. The Bistroo remains perfectly stable on an outdoor terrace thanks to its three cleverly-positioned legs. The fact that this ingenious new concept is quick to stack and lock away is another great benefit.

Introducing ACACIA To keep you protected from the sun at any hour of the day, Extremis is launching the ‘Acacia’ parasol. You can direct this eccentric parasol towards the sun so that it can create as much shade as a larger parasol, despite its relatively small surface area. Instead of closing it, simply take off the canopy and put it away. You will be left with a sculpture inspired by the branches of the African Acacia. When the sun goes down, the integrated lighting beneath the parasol canopy creates a warm ambiance. The ‘Acacia’ is an addition to the Virus collection that was launched last year and has since been presented with a golden iF design award.

Introducing TIKI A surprisingly simple, pared-down bar stool, ideal for outdoor use, with a foot rest that gives you unlimited freedom of movement. They even have a word for a whole tower of Tikis: a ‘Tikitiki’. The tower is very compact, and the stools can still be stacked even if they have the optional back rest. You can also go for the indoor version with a wooden seat.
