At Living Edge, we know that the impact design has on the world is far greater than we can imagine. We also know that the influence of good design extends beyond the built environment. It embraces the possibilities for a better ecology, better health, and a better future. And it is this optimism for a better tomorrow that inspires everything we do at Living Edge.

This is why sustainability and environmentally conscious initiatives are at the heart of Living Edge. They give us the courage to be better.

“Furniture for life” has always been our guiding motto, and we know that sustainable design and business practices are the only ways to achieve it – for our life, and the life of our planet. Our sustainability program, Living On, continues to provide focus on those guiding principles and keeps us accountable.

This is our commitment to you. Living On

In 2008, we asked ourselves: can we become carbon neutral? Through almost a decade of implementing mitigation strategies, this is a goal we are proud to have now achieved. It has now prompted us to ask ourselves: where next?

Within ten years of Living On, not only have we voluntarily reported and measured on our carbon footprint, we have also implemented processes that have become a new benchmark for sustainability in the Australian design industry.

For us, sustainability is about protecting the environment and promoting the wellbeing of all those who interact with our brand – our customers and our people.

Becoming carbon neutral. In 2017, Living Edge became carbon neutral. We did this by measuring and reporting on the emissions we’d generated right across our business, and having this report independently audited. We then purchased enough carbon credits to offset our carbon footprint for 2017.

Supplying furniture for life. We choose to supply furniture that’s designed to be passed down from generation to generation and eventually recycled at the end of its long life.

Helping our customers be their best. We offer our customers products and advice to create healthier, happier homes and workplaces. We can help our commercial customers achieve WELL, LEED or Green Star certification, or simply be more sustainable.

Looking after our people. We’re introducing WELL initiatives into our showrooms and offices, and a health and wellness program for all our people.

100% of our products are Living On products. This means they meet at least one of the following sustainability criteria:

    • 3rd party certified – either GreenTag, AFRDI Green Tick, or GECA
    • Carbon from freight has been offset
    • Contains recycled content
    • May be recycled at the end of its life
    • Certified for ergonomics
    • Sustainably sourced or certified timber
    • Certified low Volatile Organic Content (VOCs)
    • Low in toxic materials
    • Environmental-impact assessed for its entire lifecycle

But we also know that the journey to a more sustainable future doesn’t end! In 2019, we look forward to renewing our Living On commitment, and going further than ever before.
