Qanstruct Redefining the Workplace

Completed by Bruce Henderson Architects and Interiors, the Qanstruct office and wellness fit-out has successfully bridged the gap between professional efficiency and home-like comfort.

The newly completed Qanstruct project stands as a testament to the evolution of office design.

Qanstruct sets a new benchmark in workplace design, addressing the evolving needs of employees. Prioritising comfort, collaboration, and well-being, the space seamlessly integrates the functionality of a commercial office with the inviting atmosphere of a home, creating an environment where people genuinely enjoy spending their time.

Qanstruct was conceived with a clear mission, to create a workspace that prioritises both productivity and well-being. The client sought to create a workspace that would go beyond traditional office functionality, aiming for a design that not only maximised productivity but also supported the physical and mental wellbeing of its occupants. Every element of this project was carefully considered, balancing a ‘resimercial’ aesthetic - blending residential warmth with commercial functionality was a key challenge that the designers tackled through thoughtful material selection and layout planning.

“The client wanted a layout that encouraged collaboration while offering private, quiet areas for focused tasks, and integrated elements that would enhance comfort, reduce stress, and inspire creativity,” says Mariam Moosavi from Bruce Henderson. “Additionally, the client emphasised the importance of sustainability and eco-friendly choices, preferring materials and furnishings that aligned with their commitment to environmental responsibility.”

A variety of breakout spaces support different working styles, ensuring flexibility throughout the workspace. A casual lounge setting with soft elements, including Derlot Caterpillar seating and Muuto Cover Lounge Chairs, offers a welcoming retreat for informal discussions. For more private moments or concentrated work, Caon BLOC provides a secluded environment. Another dedicated space features custom tables surrounded by e15 Jean Stools, facing a TV to facilitate collaboration and meetings with remote team members. The conference room, designed for larger groups and formal presentations, is furnished with a Walter Knoll Conference X Table and Lead Chairs, creating a refined and professional setting. Breakout spaces play a vital role in the modern workplace, offering employees a place to step away for a moment of focus, a quick video call, or an informal chat with a colleague. Living Edge provides a range of thoughtfully designed furniture to create these versatile areas, from ergonomic lounge chairs and acoustic seating to compact tables that support both solo work and collaboration.

Beyond the office and workspaces, Qanstruct features wellness spaces, a gym, spa, winter garden, and a café-style kitchen to enhance employee satisfaction and sense of community. The design merges the comforts of home with the efficiency of a professional environment, transforming the office into a space where people genuinely enjoy spending their time.

The hospitality space, including the kitchen and café area, plays a vital role in employee well-being by providing a place to relax and recharge. These areas encourage social interaction and informal collaboration, fostering a sense of community within the workplace. To maintain the project's serene and homely feel, the space was curated with a neutral colour palette and oak wood finishes, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere. Seating elements, including Stellar Works Pagoda Chairs, Utility Stools, and Muuto Cover Chairs, are harmoniously distributed throughout the space, ensuring both comfort and visual cohesion. This thoughtful design approach transforms the hospitality space into a true retreat within the office, reinforcing the balance between work and relaxation.
