Undies Beach House

Celebrating Perth’s inherently beautiful year- round weather, Architect Meaghan White’s vision ensured that the outdoor area was not an afterthought but rather an integral part of the home’s design. This philosophy is evident in the thoughtful curation of furniture, where the Vitra Panton Chair and Muuto Linear Table play a starring role in shaping the alfresco experience.

Perth’s Undies Beach House showcases form, and creativity, designed to be as visually captivating as it is functional.

Nestled in the Perth suburb of Trigg, just a short stroll from the beach, Undies Beach House is a testament to bold, modernist design. Designed by architect Meaghan White and brought to life by Mitchell Custom Homes, the home is a playful yet sophisticated retreat for the homeowners. From its sculptural curves to its thoughtfully planned outdoor spaces, every detail reflects a commitment to creativity, liveability, and a seamless connection between indoor and outdoor living.

As one of White’s earliest suggestions, prioritising the outdoor space set the tone for the entire project. The result is an inviting and cohesive extension of the home, where the boundary between indoors and outdoors is softened. The entertaining area—framed by a striking white-brick fireplace and warmed by Trigg’s coastal air—is enhanced by the Panton Chairs’ sculptural curves and the Linear Table’s refined simplicity.

The Vitra Panton Chair, an icon of modern design, is an inspired choice for the space. Its fluid silhouette complements the organic shapes found throughout the home, reinforcing Undies Beach House’s celebration of curves. The durable materiality of the Panton Chair makes it a perfect fit for outdoor use, standing up to the elements while offering unparalleled comfort. Meanwhile, the Muuto Linear Table grounds the setting with its clean lines and robust construction, providing an ideal surface for long, leisurely gatherings.

Colour was also a crucial element in shaping the home’s personality, and the soft pink hue of the Panton Chairs adds a playful yet sophisticated touch to the outdoor setting. This choice not only reflects the home’s bold design ethos but also ties in seamlessly with the pink tones found in one of the three striking bathrooms, creating an overarching sense of harmony throughout the residence.

With the guidance of White, homeowners Angie and Trent Alexander took a slow and considered approach to the design, ensuring that every detail was purposeful. The result is a home that feels delightfully unexpected yet completely intentional—a place where whimsy meets functionality, and where the outdoor space is just as thoughtfully curated as the interiors.

The Panton Chairs and Muuto Linear Table are more than just furnishings; they are a testament to the careful planning that went into Undies Beach House. They embody the home’s commitment to playful yet practical design, proving that the right pieces can elevate an outdoor space into something truly special. As Angie reflects, “I’m so glad that we spent a lot of money on the outside.”

At Undies Beach House, every element tells a story—of creativity, of bold choices, and of a home designed not for resale, but for the sheer joy of living in it.
