Marking their first relocation in over twenty years, leading commercial law firm Addisons has moved into a new 2300-square-metre workplace atop 2 Park Street Tower, Sydney. Located above The Galeries and overlooking both Town Hall and the Queen Victoria Building, the two-level tenancy positions the firm at the heart of the CBD’s civic and cultural spine.

“From the outset, we were inspired by the mechanics of legal timekeeping—the interlocking components of a timepiece became a metaphor for Addisons’ own approach to commercial law,” explains Anita Zampichelli, Associate Director of Studio Tate. That conceptual underpinning manifests through highly considered spatial sequencing, rhythmically repeated architectural details, and a palette of walnut, steel, stone and glass that signals both rigour and warmth.

Visitors arriving to the reception are met by a carefully composed setting that sets the tone for the workplace beyond. A waiting area has been shaped by a pair of Tom Dixon Fat lounge chairs in grey boucle that face the deep blue Stellar Works Taylor sofa. All of the pieces have a sculptural form, creating a visually engaging and comfortable waiting area. These pieces, part of the broader furniture package by Living Edge, play a key role in shaping a welcoming arrival experience that reflects both the professionalism and personality of the Addisons brand.

“We had a successful collaboration with Living Edge. They completed the furniture and workstation package which made it efficient for cost and delivery” says Zampichelli, who notes that the project came in significantly below budget.

Throughout the open-plan work zones, Herman Miller Ratio height-adjustable workstations have been paired with Verus task chairs, creating ergonomic, activity-based settings that support both individual focus and collective engagement. These selections were made not only for their performance credentials but also for their ability to integrate seamlessly into the broader interior architecture. Furniture choices were guided by functionality, aesthetics, and long-term adaptability, ensuring the environment remains responsive to future needs.

Private offices and meeting rooms maintain a tonal richness through layered timber panelling and a restrained palette of petrol-blue carpets and navy upholstery, evoking a subtle nod to the formality of traditional chambers, while presenting a clean, contemporary execution.

The staff breakout and kitchen space, designed for multifunctional use across daily operations, events, and team training, is a considered exercise in adaptability. A stainless-steel kitchen island is offset by warm walnut joinery and anchored by two high tables. Muuto’s Nerd barstools, selected in a distinctive green finish, introduce a moment of vibrancy while remaining in conversation with the natural tones of the walnut timber.

"Green was selected to give these spaces their own identity, making them feel unique for the team. Paired with walnut—which also features in the front-of-house—it creates a seamless connection when the space is in function mode.”
