Destination: Living Edge

For Saturday Indesign 2026, Living Edge opened both Sydney showrooms for a day of design, discovery and connection.

The program brought together international icons and contemporary voices including Herman Miller, Knoll, BD Barcelona, Tom Dixon, La Chance, Walter Knoll and more, alongside a day of experiences and conversations celebrating creativity, collaboration and great design.

Workplace, hospitality and residential design are blurring — and Design in Transit dug into why. Moderated by Alice Blackwood, the panel: David Caon (Caon Design Office), Brooke Lloyd (Cox Architecture) and Simone McEwan (Nice Projects) discussed how designers are creating spaces that feel more welcoming and flexible, borrowing the comfort of home and the energy of hospitality in equal measure.

The panel looked at how spaces adapt to changing behaviours and technology without losing their identity, drawing on projects across workplaces, hotels, lounges, retail and hospitality to talk longevity, activation and the experiences that shift a space throughout the day.

They also spoke to furniture as connector: how the pieces we sit, gather and interact around shape behaviour, comfort and the character of a room.

Living Edge celebrated the winners of Magis Puppy: Unleashed Potential, a collaboration with Sydney Dogs & Cats Home that saw 15 leading Sydney architecture and design practices reimagine the iconic Magis Puppy. The initiative raised over $3,500 for Sydney Dogs & Cats Home. Congratulations to all participating practices for their creativity, imagination and contribution to this special project.

Magis on selecting The Little Merpup:

“We chose The Little Merpup because its design makes strong references both to the theme of reuse, which is particularly important to us, and to the identity of the assigned country, Denmark.

What we appreciated most is that the waste material — represented by the aluminium cans generated by the studio itself — is not simply recovered and reused, but hand-crafted, repurposed and transformed into scales, acquiring a new function and a new aesthetic value.

We also feel that the reference to Denmark is particularly successful. The scales evoke the marine world, while the material they are made from recalls the Little Mermaid and reflects its surroundings like a water surface, creating a different image of the Puppy each time, changing according to the light, colours and environment in which it is placed.”

At Muuto, Soundscape invited guests to experience the Woollahra showroom through a different sense entirely — an immersive audio journey exploring sound, space and wellbeing. It asked guests to pause, tune into their surroundings, and notice how sensory experience shapes the way a space feels.

Drawing on Muuto's approach to neuroaesthetics, the experience made the case that design is felt as much as seen and that shaping it deliberately builds spaces for wellbeing and belonging.
