Unleashed Potential

Living Edge brings together design, creativity and community for a charity design competition centred around one of Magis’ most recognisable designs.

Design with Purpose: The Magis Puppy Design Challenge returns for 2026

For this year’s Saturday Indesign, Living Edge put a playful spin on design with Unleashed Potential, a charity competition that brings together leading design practices, the iconic Magis Puppy and a cause close to home.

At the centre of the initiative was the iconic Magis Puppy, designed by Finnish designer Eero Aarnio in 2005. Originally created for Magis’ Me Too collection, Puppy transforms the familiar silhouette of a dog into a playful, sculptural form. Its simple geometry has made it one of contemporary design’s most recognisable characters.

For Unleashed Potential, leading design practices were invited to reinterpret the Magis Puppy in their own distinctive way. Each Puppy was reimagined through the design language of a different country, reflecting the international brands Living Edge represents. Each design reflects the spirit of the Magis Puppy itself: playful, imaginative and designed to bring joy to its surroundings.

The partnership has a personal connection to the Living Edge team, with two team members having previously sponsored pets through the organisation.

For Angelina Kolt, Residential Consultant at Living Edge, the initiative brought together two things close to her heart: design and animal welfare.

Having sponsored a pet through Sydney Dogs & Cats Home in the past, I’ve seen the immense care and support they provide to animals of all shapes and sizes while they wait for their next chapter. It’s a cause that is very close to my heart, so being able to bring together our love of design with an opportunity to support their work makes Unleashed Potential particularly meaningful to me.

Together, the initiative raised over $3,500 for Sydney Dogs & Cats Home, funding care and new beginnings for animals in need.

Elena King, Partnerships Coordinator at Sydney Dogs & Cats Home, said the organisation was thrilled to be chosen as this year’s charity partner.

We’re proud to be part of an initiative that brings together creativity, community and generosity to create meaningful impact. The support raised by the design community will immediately help us provide vulnerable animals with the care, protection and second chances they deserve, turning an already exciting event into truly life-changing outcomes for animals in need.
