The cutting-edge Czech company Lasvit brought to the Milanese Teatro Gerolamo a show full of beasts, antiheroes, vicious genius minds, egos, outcasts, and fantastical creatures.  All of them created out of glass, an outcome of a symphony of well-respected designers with the best bohemian artisans.  Beside the premiering collections, visitors admired Lasvit’s signature glass installations.

Dominating the stage of Gerolamo was A composition of 108 small Neverending Glory chandeliers, the most admired and best-selling collection of the company, and in the middle of the auditorium:  The Independent Rose from the Floor. A magnificently monstrous installation situated in the centre of the theatre’s auditorium.  More than one hundred TV screens were strapped to its body and broadcast “their master’s voice.”

“In the old days, there used to be pillars on the corners of the streets where you could learn what recently happened and what is going to happen.  The Independant is a billboard of its time, its crystal screens delivering the crystal-clear truth.  What you are going to believe is up to you, “says the Art Director of Lasvit, Maxim Velčovský.

The pack of monsters looked down at the Independant from the 3rd floor.  This exceptional collection for the very first time saw the light of day in the history-drenched venue of the Milanese Teatro Gerolamo.  This limelight, specifically built for measure for puppet shows, became a haven for the Monsters.  In their tangible glass form, the monsters have travelled from many corners of the world.  Very renowned designers, such as Alessandro Mendini, the Campana Brothers, Yabu Pushelberg, Nendo, Fabio Novembre, Daniel Libeskind, Maarten Bass, Moritz Waldemayer, Maurizio Galante or Lasvits own art-director Maxim Velčovský, gaveus a peek into their minds and revealed their personal monsters to us.

Lasvit’s Monster Cabaret outshined more than 1500 exhibitions in the city of design and won the prestigious Milano Design Award.  The award in main category rewards the installation that best interprets a contemporary design and a future conceptual vision.  The award ceremony took place today at the stage of Teatro Gerolamo.  The award was handed over by the founder of the award Dino Lupelli and Cristina Tajani, the Councilor of Milan for fashion and design.  The jury of the Milan Design Award had to research some essential aspects of events in the city:  involvement, vision, contemporaneity, relationship with the city and aesthetics.

“I am happy and honoured that the jury has chosen LASVIT among so many beautiful presentations.  We wanted to show the exceptional Monster collection in a different, edgy, daring way.  Being given this award just underlines our vision to be the most inspirational glass making company in the world,” said President and founder of LASVIT Leon Jakimič.
