Zoë Mowat

"It's good to be aware of your practice and your mind and not just look at the endless scroll of content that we are bombarded with." - Zoë Mowat

Zoë Mowat’s work blends sculptural intuition with material-led precision to create furniture and objects that feel both expressive and deeply considered. Based in New York and founder of her eponymous studio in 2010, Mowat’s practice bridges colour, form and tactility, resulting in pieces that are as playful as they are purposeful. Her globally exhibited work reflects a relentless curiosity about how material and lived experience intersect in everyday objects.

For Lambert & Fils, Mowat has extended this approach into lighting design with the Isle collection, a series of pendant fixtures conceived in collaboration with the Montreal-based studio. The Isle pieces demonstrate her interest in balance and contrast, combining frosted glass tubes with solid stone and aluminium supports to create compositions that appear to float while retaining a sculptural presence. These fixtures embody a quiet poise — material contrasts and refined proportions working together to elevate light into an elemental, tactile object within space.

Her contribution to Lambert & Fils underscores a broader commitment to material exploration and experiential design, where functionality and visual poetry coexist. Across her collaborations, Mowat’s work continues to expand the language of contemporary furniture and product design, inviting closer engagement with the physical and emotional qualities of crafted objects.
