During a career that spanned more than five decades, Ward Bennett created everything from jewellery and cutlery to chairs and houses.
Ward Bennett was born in Manhattan and started out sketching for fashion designers and as a window dresser before studying design himself. He was hailed by the American Institute of Architects for “transforming industrial hardware into sublime objects”. In 1987, he began working with the furniture company Geiger. A prodigious designer of objects, Bennett also created pieces for Tiffany & Co and Hermès.
