Lucy Kurrein

British-born furniture designer and upholstery specialist whose work brings together rigorous industrial craft and a refined, tactile sensibility. Based in Paris, she designs upholstered seating and furniture that balance gracious form, comfort, and enduring quality.

Lucy’s journey into design was shaped by formal training in furniture design - she studied at Buckinghamshire University (graduating in 2007) after an Art Foundation Diploma at Leeds College of Art and Design.

Early in her career she worked with leading London-based design studios, gaining experience in both design thinking and industrial practice, before establishing her own studio in 2013.

Over time she has developed a reputation for pieces that fuse clean, contemporary silhouettes with thoughtful references to design tradition and an emphasis on the “feel” of materials - a balance of elegance and everyday usability.
Her design philosophy centres on creating furniture that feels both immediate and lasting - pieces that offer comfort, clarity and emotional resonance without sacrificing practicality.

A good example is the chair Pippin chair for NaughtOne: with its cone-shaped, tap-into-material seat, optional strap handle and hidden castors, Pippin embodies Lucy’s belief that furniture should invite use, encourage connection, and remain adaptable over time.

From modular sofas to sculptural stools and lounge chairs, her body of work reflects an ongoing commitment to marrying craftsmanship, comfort and timeless style.
