Christian + Jade

Christian Hammer Juhl (Danish) and Jade Chan (Singaporean) co-found and lead the multidisciplinary design practice Christian+Jade, where furniture, objects and installations are driven by a deep curiosity about the life of materials and the human experiences they shape.

Both trained at the Design Academy Eindhoven, they blend research, craft and conceptual thinking to create work that feels intuitive yet rich with narrative intent.

At the core of Christian+Jade’s work is an exploration of how materials carry history and meaning — from timber and its ecosystems to aluminium, glass and waxed paper — and how these qualities can be expressed through shape, texture and form. Their practice doesn’t begin with a predetermined product type; instead, it starts with asking what a material can reveal and how design can deepen our relationship to it. The result is work that is tactile, quietly expressive and reflective of both tradition and contemporary relevance.
Their projects span exhibitions, research-led installations and collaborations with galleries and design institutions globally. Notable work includes The Age of Wood — an investigation into wood, time and patina developed with Karimoku Research — and Weight of Wood with Dinesen, both of which articulate the duo’s interest in material life cycles and ecological awareness. Through these explorations, Christian+Jade position design as a lens for seeing the world with greater depth and care.
