Alessandro Munge

The visionary force behind Studio Munge, the Toronto- and Miami‑based multidisciplinary atelier acclaimed for crafting immersive hospitality and residential spaces.

Born in Italy and raised in Canada, his creative impulse sparked early - sketching drapery solutions in his mother’s studio by age 13 - and has since evolved into a career defined by narrative-driven design, architectural layering, and emotional resonance.

Under Munge’s leadership, Studio Munge has grown into a sixty-strong collective that blends architecture, landscape, interiors, product and furniture design. Its ethos centres on genuine storytelling - each project emerges from a ‘why’, a deeply researched cultural dialogue that informs material choices, spatial sequences, and bespoke elements.

This approach has shaped landmark venues like The William Vale in Brooklyn, Rosewood Hotel Georgia in Vancouver, and Nobu Toronto, all celebrated for their contextual nuance and crafted authenticity.
Munge’s defining strength lies in the fusion of luxury with lived experience. Eschewing fad for purpose, his designs balance high drama with warmth - melding Murano chandeliers and plush velvet with local artisanary, terrazzo, marble, and wood finishes. He describes the studio as “a bridge between past and future,” favouring timeless workmanship over fleeting trends.

Collaborating with Stellar Works, Munge extends his immersive approach into furniture design - producing refined collections like Pesca that echo his holistic sensibility. Evoking quiet elegance and functional storytelling, his pieces reflect the same craft culture and emotional depth as his built environments.

Whether shaping a hotel lobby, a bespoke chair, or a landscaped courtyard, Munge’s curated narrative and meticulous detail consistently transform space into meaningful experience.
