The design of Hopi draws its inspiration from Kachinas – ritual figurines of Native American Indians.
In Native American culture, Kachina is the spirit of a deity, representing a natural element, an animal or an ancestor.
Kashina dolls originated with the HOPI tribe, the first indigenous people to create them. Given to Hopi children during ceremonies, the Kachina dolls were initially made to educate them and help them learn about the spirits.
Beautifully crafted, the dolls were carved in wood and adorned with graphic, polychromic patterns.
