Description
The Madini Carpet by Walter Knoll takes its name from the Swahili word for minerals. Designed by Helmut Scheufele, it is inspired by the varied colours drawn from African soil, translating that reference into a layered surface of ochre, stone, muted blue, teal and earthen red.
Its composition feels geological rather than decorative. Warm and cool tones move across the rug in horizontal strata, giving the floor a sense of depth and subtle movement. In a living room, Madini can anchor a seating arrangement with colour and texture. In a bedroom or dining room, it introduces atmosphere without overwhelming the surrounding furniture.
The low pile carpet is made from 35% wool, 20% nettle fibre and 45% silk, combining natural texture with a gentle lustre. It is also well suited to home offices and professional interiors where colour can bring warmth to rooms for gathering, reading or considered work. Madini holds the space with quiet complexity, giving each setting a more composed foundation.
