As Saturday Indesign, which is hosted alternating in the cities of Sydney and Melbourne, had not been seen in Victoria since 2019, anticipation was high. It was our pleasure to have over 1,000 design lovers, friends, and clients through our doors and share new brands, new products, special activations, and welcome everyone into our Melbourne showroom.
As Saturday Indesign, which is hosted alternating between the cities of Sydney and Melbourne, had not been seen in Victoria since 2019, anticipation was high. It was our pleasure to have over 1,000 design lovers, friends, and clients through our doors and share new brands, new products, special activations, and welcome everyone into our Melbourne showroom.
The highlight of our participation at Saturday Indesign 2023 was undoubtedly the Extremis Panigiri event. It was a celebration of design, community, and the joy of living life to the fullest. Located just outside our Living Edge showroom, the space was transformed into a lively Greek inspired gathering space filled with music, laughter, and of course, exceptional design. The main feature included the new Panigiri table from Extremis.
It was our pleasure to have Dirk Wynants the visionary behind Extremis, with us for Saturday Indesign sharing his insights into the creative process via an in-depth discussion with Alice Blackwood, Editor of Indesign. Dirk shared his predictions on the future of design as well as the inspiration behind Extremis’ iconic designs that have made the brand a leading name in the world of outdoor furniture.
In addition to the Extremis Panigiri event, we offered a range of other activations showcasing design innovations, new additions, as well as celebrating design classics. Guests had the opportunity to explore other iconic furniture collections shared throughout the showroom. Highlighted activations included celebrating 100 years of Herman Miller with original historic posters and design icons, a preview of the new ISLE collection from Lambert et Fils, debut of the portables collection from Tom Dixon, showcase of the latest ByBorre material collaboration for Pipeline seating by Derlot, as well as the launch of the Italian furniture brands Magis - now available from Living Edge.
In addition to the installations and activations, our team engaged in insightful discussions and workshops, exchanging ideas and insights with fellow design enthusiasts and professionals. It was our pleasure to host Philipp Mainzer - owner and creative director of e15 furniture, Dirk Wynantz – Owner of Extremis, as well as Mathieu Mudie - Export Manager for Lambert et Fils. All of which participated in presentations and training sessions over the weekend.
We were pleased to host an engaging panel discussion entitled: “Thinking Local, Acting Global.” Moderated by Alice Blackwood Editor of Indesign, conversation revolved around the dynamic world of design and architecture, with a focus on the interplay between thinking locally and going global. The event brought together prominent designers, architects, and industry experts from around the world to explore the challenges, opportunities, and inspirations that arise when merging local cultural sensibilities with global design trends.
Panel Speakers included Phillip Mainzer (Founder of e15), Mathieu Mudie (Business Development Director of Lambert & Fils), Mark Simpson and Damien Mulvihill (Joint Creative Directors of DesignOffice)
Overall Saturday Indesign was a testament to the power of design to bring people together. We are immensely grateful to all who joined us for this unforgettable celebration. As we move forward, Living Edge remains committed to our mission of bringing exceptional design to the world. We look forward to continuing our journey with you, our valued supporters and partners, as we explore the endless possibilities of design and its impact on our lives. Thank you once again for being a part of Saturday Indesign 2023 and for joining us in celebrating the beauty and creativity of design.
