Melbourne Design Week 2025

Presented in partnership with the Authentic Design Alliance. Hosted during Melbourne Design Week, this panel brings together voices from Australia Post, Living Edge and Hassell to explore how circular thinking can be applied at scale.

How Australia Post Delivered Circular Workplace Design

Living Edge is excited to announce our participation in Melbourne Design Week, presented in partnership with the Authentic Design Alliance. We’re bringing together key voices from Australia Post, Living Edge, and global design studio Hassell to explore how circular thinking can be applied at scale.

When Australia Post moved into its new purpose-built address in Burnley, it wasn’t just a relocation, it was a rare opportunity to rethink how a national organisation could lead through action. Rather than defaulting to a traditional workplace fit-out, Australia Post partnered with Living Edge and Hassell to take a different path: one grounded in reuse, restoration, and long-term responsibility.

Melbourne Design Week

At the centre of this approach was ReLive, a program by Living Edge that gives second life to products by refurbishing and reintegrating them into new environments. Working closely with Australia Post, the team assessed, restored, and returned thousands of legacy pieces — designing a new workplace with a clear purpose: to preserve the value of quality design, reduce environmental impact, and demonstrate what’s possible when sustainability is embedded from the start.

Melbourne Design Week will host a panel discussion featuring representatives from Australia Post, Living Edge, and Hassell, delving into how circular design principles were applied to the Australia Post project and how Relive became a cornerstone of the new workplace strategy. The conversation will examine how a program focused on reuse and restoration can contribute to reducing waste, conserving resources, and fostering a culture of environmental responsibility.

Join us at Melbourne Design Week to gain insights into how design, procurement, and policy can intersect to shape workplaces that honour environmental values and reflect a future-focused culture. This is an opportunity to hear firsthand how Relive is not just a program but a practical approach to embedding sustainability into the very fabric of contemporary workplaces.
