The Little Artist Chair Competition

TIME FOR LITTLE CREATIVES TO TAKE A SEAT AT THE TABLE.

Living Edge invites young artists to enter Sketch a Seat, a playful drawing competition for the next generation of designers.

The competition is open to young creators and makers under the age of 16. Entrants are invited to submit a hand-drawn or mixed media interpretation of their dream chair. Think about how it looks, how it feels, and where you would use it.

From mini masterpieces inspired by iconic classics to wildly imaginative creations, kids can sketch, paint or collage their ideas and they could to WIN one of the iconic little chairs from Living Edge.

How do I enter?
Complete the online entry form on the Living Edge website and upload a clear image of your drawing. You will also need to send (or drop off) the original artwork to the Living Edge Alexandria showroom (Living Edge Competition, 74/4D Huntley St, Alexandria NSW 2015) once you upload it to the above entry form for your entry to be considered.

What kind of drawing can I submit?
Your design must be an original, hand-drawn and illustrated chair or seat, no larger than A4 size. You can draw with pencil, paint, watercolour - any medium is encouraged. Please note that digital or AI-generated entries are not accepted.

What needs to be included with my entry?
Each entry must include: A name for your chair/seat, a short description (50 words or less) explaining your idea as well as completed parent/guardian details via the entry form

Will I get my artwork back?
Yes artwork can be returned on request once all exhibitions and activations have concluded. Return requests must be made by a parent or guardian.

Competition Terms and Conditions

1. Promoter

The competition is run by Living Edge (“the Promoter”).

2. Competition Period

The competition opens Thursday 2 April 2026
Entries close 11:59pm, 30 April 2026
Entries received after this time will not be considered

3. Eligibility

Open to children aged 0–16 years at the time of entry
Entrants must be residents of Australia
Entries must be submitted by a parent or legal guardian
Employees of Living Edge and their immediate families may submit entries but are not eligible to win prizes.
By entering, the parent or guardian confirms consent to the child’s participation in the competition

Categories Entries will be judged across two categories:

Up to 8 years
9–16 years

5. How to Enter

To enter, participants must:

Create an original hand-drawn and illustrated chair design based on the theme “Sketch a Seat”
Complete the official entry form via the Living Edge website
Submit the artwork along with: Entrant’s first name and age, prent/guardian contact details, a name for the chair/seat design, a description (50 words or less) explaining the concept as well as mailing or dropping off the original artwork to Living Edge Alexandria. Entries that do not include all required information may not be considered. Only one entry per child is permitted unless otherwise stated.

6. Artwork Requirements

All entries must be hand drawn and illustrated (no digital or AI-generated submissions permitted)
Artwork must not exceed A4 size (210 × 297 mm)
The artwork must be the original work of the entrant
Entries must not infringe any copyright or third-party rights
The Promoter reserves the right to disqualify entries that are incomplete, inappropriate, or do not align with the competition theme

7. Submission of Artwork

Entrants must provide the original physical artwork
Artwork must be delivered or posted to: Sketch a Seat – Living Edge Woolshed 74, 4D Huntley Street Alexandria NSW 2015 Australia
Entries must be received by the closing date to be eligible.
Proof of posting is not proof of receipt
The Promoter accepts no responsibility for artwork lost or damaged in transit

8. Exhibition & Return of Artwork

Submitted artworks may be used for exhibition, display, and promotional activations by Living Edge in physical or digital forms.
Artwork can be returned upon request once all competition-related activations and exhibitions have concluded
Requests for return must be made by the entrant’s parent or legal guardian
If return is not requested within one (1) months of notification, the Promoter reserves the right to retain or responsibly dispose of the artwork

This is a game of skill. Chance plays no part in determining the winners
Judging will take place in New South Wales at Living Edge
Judging will occur within two (2) weeks after the competition closing date and winners announced by May 15th 2026.
Winners will be announced on Living Edge social channels including Instagram @livingedge

Entries will be evaluated based on:

Creativity and originality
Interpretation of the theme
Design thinking and imagination Judging will be conducted by representatives of Living Edge. All decisions are final, and no correspondence will be entered into.

Two winners will be selected (one per age category):

0–8 years winner
9–16 years winner

Each winner will receive their choice of one prize from a curated selection of Living Edge designs. Prize options include one of the following items per category. Winner/Parent/Guardian will get to choose one of the following: • Magis Puppy Small • Vitra Eames Elephant Plastic Large • Vitra Panton Chair Junior • Magis Dodo • Magis Trotter • Magis Julian. Total prize pool value is approximate and subject to product selection. Prize is subject to availability. Delivery is included to an Australian metropolitan address. Prize is not transferable or redeemable for cash. Prize will be awarded to a parent or guardian on behalf of the child

11. Winner Notification

Winners will be notified via the contact details provided. If a winner cannot be contacted within 5 days, the Promoter reserves the right to select an alternative winner

12. Use of Entries

By entering, participants grant Living Edge a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to:

Publish, reproduce, and display submitted artwork
Use entries for marketing, promotional, and exhibition purposes across digital and print channels. This may include use of the entrant’s first name, age, and submitted artwork. Where possible, the entrant will be credited.

13. Liability

The Promoter accepts no responsibility for lost, late, or misdirected entries
The Promoter is not responsible for any damage or loss of submitted artworks

14. Privacy

Personal information will be used solely for administering the competition and handled in accordance with applicable privacy laws. In any public display, publication or promotion of entries, only the entrant’s first name, surname initial, and state or postcode will be disclosed. No additional personal information will be made publicly available. By entering, the parent or guardian consents to this limited disclosure.

15. Mailing List

By entering this competition, you agree to be added to the Living Edge mailing list. You can unsubscribe at any time.

16. General

The Promoter reserves the right to modify, suspend, or cancel the competition where reasonably required. These Terms & Conditions are governed by the laws of New South Wales, Australia. Entry into the competition constitutes acceptance of these Terms & Conditions
