Made in Ratio

Made in Ratio creates boundary-pushing contemporary furniture.

Founded in London in 2013 by Tasmanian-born designer Brodie Neill, Made in Ratio was created from a belief that remarkable design should move seamlessly from sketch to finished form. Drawing on Neill’s roots in hands-on furniture making and his Master’s in digital design at the Rhode Island School of Design, the studio blends artisanal craft with advanced digital techniques to produce pieces that are both timeless and innovative.

The debut collection, unveiled at Milan Design Week in 2013, introduced standout pieces like the Cowrie Chair and Cowrie Rocker - shell-inspired forms crafted from moulded ash plywood. These designs quickly gained international recognition, earning a place in Taschen’s 1000 Chairs and entering museum collections around the world.
Subsequent designs reinforced the studio’s reputation for sculptural clarity and material innovation. The Alpha Chair, a solid-wood, stackable design with a distinctive A-shaped silhouette, became another Taschen icon, while the Supernova Table, with its explosive recycled-aluminium trestles and low-iron glass top, exemplifies the fusion of expressive form, structural ingenuity, and sustainability.

Other notable works include the Matrix coat stand in proportioned steel and the bronze Stellarnova Table, inspired by organic forms. Across pieces such as the Rotor stool and Pleat bench, Made in Ratio consistently champions responsible European craftsmanship, working with expert makers to bring digital designs to life with precision and integrity.
