Designed by Johan Van Hengel for Muuto in 2026, Folded Trolley extends the folded-form language of his Folded Shelf into a freestanding piece that plays between displaying and concealing the things we live with.
Laser-cut and formed from bent steel, its crisp planes recall folded paper while integrated pockets give everyday objects somewhere considered to land. The open versions keep books, magazines and smaller belongings visible but contained, while drawer versions add soft-close concealed storage and can be specified with a black anodized lock and keys.
Folded Trolley's real strength is how easily that storage changes character. In the hallway, it can gather keys, bags and the day’s loose ends. Beside a sofa, the lower version becomes a compact side table for books, a lamp or a drink. Add bottles and glassware and it readily shifts into a bar cart. In a home office, files and working essentials remain close without making the room feel permanently work-focused.
The castors, made from 100% post-industrial recycled plastic, can be interchanged with the included glides, allowing the trolley to move easily or take on a more settled position. The Folded Trolley is made in Denmark and arrives preassembled.
