Welcome to the Living Edge Portal for Milan insider information.
Milano is looking ahead to the 61st edition of Salone del Mobile, held in the Fiera Milano district in Rho from April 18 to 23, with over 1,900 exhibitors spread across six hubs at the Rho Fiera fairgrounds, plus countless installations throughout the city. As usual, the events will be accompanied by a jam-packed cultural program, yet to be unveiled, full of outstanding guests who will bring to the stage unprecedented perspectives and exclusive viewpoints on the world of design.
Eagerly awaited is the return of Euroluce, the event dedicated to lighting design, which after a 4-year hiatus brings the best brands in the industry to the pavilions. Focussing on technological and lighting innovation, eco-sustainability of lighting appliances and sources, energy saving and the most up-to-date software, including home automation and IoT.
The Salone del Mobile 2023 will again be an unmissable occasion, an opportunity for the entire sector to come together, discuss their projects, swap and share ideas and, not least, it will be a chance to catch up again with our international community and take stock of the current state of the design industry, along with all of its key players.
Our brands have curated a series of exclusive events and presentations, which will be revealed to you in due course. Through our Milan guide you will have access to a range of exclusive exhibitions and events, designed to provide an immersive and unforgettable experience. As well as insights from notable designers and other Milan veterans, and Living Edge’s top recommendations for travelling, dining, and exploring the city.
‘People come to Salone to discover what’s new from the brands, but also to create connections, and this is what we missed,’ says Salone del Mobile president, Maria Porro. ‘To create these connections, the layout of the fair is very important. We decided to have an urbanistic approach. To think about the fair as a city, an ideal city, starting from the pavilions of Euroluce.’
The design of the pavilions was entrusted to Milanese architectural firm Lombardini 22, who will create a layout that enhances visitors’ journey. The new layout will be inspired by Italian historic town centres, reimagining the fair as a city, for which Euroluce will serve as experimental ground.
This new edition will be fuelled by three significant departures from Salone’s traditional format: a single exhibition level that simplifies and improves accessibility; a new Euroluce layout, which rather than being stand-centric is now focused on people with a smart, hyper-accessible and better-connected loop-shaped path; and finally, an integrated cultural program at Euroluce that includes talks, workshops and more.
