Description

Maap is a light shaped through both design precision and human gesture. It begins with a clear technical structure: LED sources mounted on an iron support, fixed to a round iron back plate. Over this sits an ultra-lightweight, tear-resistant fibre casing that is manually crumpled during installation to create the final form.

This shaped paper-like membrane diffuses light from LED sources across a broad area, so the glow appears to come from the whole surface rather than a single point. Large magnetic buttons, known as the Dots, secure the casing to the metal frame while allowing the diffuser to be reshaped over time.

Each Maap installation develops its own surface, with folds, ridges and soft irregularities, and the result is never entirely fixed. The result is soft but not passive. Maap brings atmosphere to living rooms, bedrooms, home offices and corporate settings, creating a broad field of illumination with a form that is never quite repeated. Available in Wall 1, Wall 2 and Wall 3 configurations, it can be scaled to suit the wall and the room.
