Description
“The Bellhop family includes the portable table lamp, the outdoor pieces and the floor lamp launched in 2021. We have decided to further expand the collection to include a wall lamp. Since the launch of Bellhop Table in 2017, Flos has developed a new patented technology that has allowed us to create a unique wall lamp with a high-performance optic that pushes light upwards and outwards in a room. This more static member of the family integrates Bellhop directly into the architecture of a space. The characteristic shape of the shell is cut and inverted. Designed to offer a wider beam of light than Bellhop Wall, the model for exteriors, Bellhop Wall Up features the same iconic form that distinguishes the family. The only (but key) difference is in its positioning: the cap is set upside down. This adaptation was made possible by a new technology patented by Flos that allows to develop the light upwards instead of toward the wall.
The Bellhop family was envisaged by Edward Barber and Jay Osgerby in 2017 to follow an original intuition: creating an object capable of providing a gentle illumination, very much like a contemporary candle to be transported comfortably from one room to another. Starting from this idea, the designers have over time developed a whole family of lamps, featuring a floor model, and several outdoor models.
