Designed by Tobia Scarpa for Flos in 1968, the Biagio Table Lamp is one of the great icons of Italian modernist design — and over half a century on, it remains as relevant as ever.
Each lamp is carved from a single block of white Carrara marble, shaped into sinuous, sculptural curves that sit at the boundary between functional object and fine art. Weighing over 7kg, the Biagio commands presence whether it's switched on or off. By day, the smooth marble surfaces catch and reflect natural light with extraordinary delicacy. By night, the lamp's warm glow passes through the stone, illuminating its natural veining and variations — making every Biagio genuinely one of a kind.
Scarpa's approach to the Biagio was rooted in a belief that honest materials, handled with precision and restraint, need no embellishment. The result is a lamp with minimal forms and maximum impact — a piece that does not demand attention, but consistently holds it.
The Biagio provides focused direct light and is compatible with dimmable LED globes, making it well suited to desks, console tables, sideboards, and bedside settings.
