Description

Designed in Tom Dixon’s London Studio in 2015, the Melt shade is built around an optical contradiction: it looks like molten glass, yet its fluidity is produced through blow-moulded polycarbonate and vacuum metallisation. Made in Germany, the process creates its irregular organic form and highly reflective surface.

When switched off, Melt reads as a dark, mirror-like object that gathers reflections from around the room. Illuminated, the shade becomes translucent, revealing layers of warped reflection and a warm internal glow. Its character changes naturally as a room moves from daylight into evening, rather than simply switching from object to light source.

Choose the Mini Pendant for Melt's distinctive visual effect at a more compact scale; opt for the Medium Pendant when you want the distorted silhouette to hold greater presence. Clusters of floating Melt shades are also available as Pendant Systems and Chandeliers.

Each pendant includes a matching ceiling rose and 6W LED light source with a warm 3000K colour temperature, and is compatible with inline mains TRIAC dimming.

Part of the wider Melt collection, the Pendant carries the same distorted, metallised shade language across floor, table, portable and chandelier forms.
