Oki Sato is head of Nendo, a multi-award winning studio based in Tokyo.

Since it was founded in 2002, Nendo has become one of the most sought after design studios in the world. ‘Nendo’ is Japanese for modelling clay, and the name is indicative of both Oki and his studio’s playful yet pragmatic approach to design. Nendo epitomises the best of Japanese design in its emphasis on making everyday object’s simple, functional and beautiful while also maintaining an international outlook.

Oki Sato and Nendo have designed products and lighting for brands including Lasvit, Cappellini, Gussini, and Moroso. The studio’s work is in the permanent collection of the Museum of Modern Art (New York), Musèe des arts decoratifs (Paris), and the Victoria and Albert Museum (London).
