Description

Harry Bertoia was an Italian-born American sculptor who experimented with metal to manipulate form, space, light, texture, and sound. His work with Knoll led to a seating collection that has become an icon of mid-century design. Made of welded wire and steel, chairs in the Bertoia collection, which include stools, lounge chairs and benches, transcend from everyday objects to pieces of art.

Although the bench does not have the signature wire grid of his seating collection, the welded wire base shows an early exploration of the material and foreshadows what was to follow. The bench also makes a great coffee table.

Placed in an entry, a living space or the foot of a bed, it’s sure to become a well-loved, hardworking, fixture of any home. The solid wood slats and a welded steel base, form the shape of this recognisable icon.
