Living Edge Residential Showroom – Saturday in Design

Here are some great shots of the Living Edge Residential Showroom exhibition from Saturday In Design 2011 – snapped before it was filled with people.

Level two was devoted to the delightful new products from Established & Sons – we hosted The Project by Woods Bagot & Woven Image and we’ve also got some amazing shots from the lovely Nicole England. Enjoy!

Saturday in Design P.S.

We’ve recovered from the Saturday in Design festivities last week and sorted through some more pics from the various events so thought we’d share a few before the event is wrapped up until next year.

The joint ADA (Australian Design Alliance) and LaunchPad evening was an interesting meeting of minds and a really successful event enjoyed by all. Thanks to host Paul McGilick and each of the panelists for a thought provoking discussion and to the LaunchPad finalists for an exciting display of original talent. If you missed the exhibition, it will remain at the Living Edge showroom until this Thursday, so get your skates on…

New products from Established & Sons, Walter Knoll,  Michael YoungHowe and Herman Miller set the scene on the day, and an eye-catching display from Cadrys also drew a crowd. Marc Fong, creator of Herman Miller’s new Arras workstation, charmed interviewers with his candid answers and affable personality. And the product is engaging too!

While the demand for the foosball table was almost on par with that for refreshments, the Miniature Cork Chair competition was again a highlight – below is a pic of our winner Mario Notaro with his creation and the team at Site Architecture. Thanks to all who visited!

A big congratulations

What a fantastic array of miniatures we received again this year for the Miniature Cork Chair competition! If you were one of the many who squeezed into Living Edge’s Melbourne showroom on Saturday afternoon or who visited earlier we’re sure you’ll agree that the creativity and craftsmanship on display was quite inspiring. Many thanks to all the entrants, the lovely folk at Chandon and to all who attended and made the event such fun.

The winning entry was a beautiful and nostalgic creation by Mario Notaro from Site Architecture in Perth (pic below). A sterling job Mario – congratulations! We hope your Eames Lounge and Ottoman brings you many years of enjoyment.

Second and third places were awarded to David Ho from BVN, Melbourne (below) and Zoe Page from Swanbury Penglase, Adelaide (second below).

The entries by Mark Davis from Dasch Associates, Sue Coles from Baenziger Coles and Tanya Hillman from Geyer were all highly commended. Check out some of the competition below… we’ll be adding more pics from the event over the week so be sure to check back in.

Whilst we’re on the topic of SiD photos, thank you to Lucy over at The Design Files for some great coverage of our showroom on the day and an excellent round-up of the days events. It’s always great for us to hear some feedback and there are lots of positive comments on the mini chair competition and new Airia desk from the Herman Miller Lifework range. We’ve published a few of Lucy’s photos below, but head to The Design Files SiD post for more.

And the winner is…

Saturday in Design was a great success and a particular highlight for us was the impressive standard of entries in our Chandon Miniature Chair Competition, which made for a fabulous exhibition on the ground floor of the studio. On Saturday afternoon we announced the winners of the competition, with the first prize of an Eames Lounge and Ottoman going to Jon Voss of Rice Daubney (his winning entry below).

Second prize was awarded to Edward Wong of Idiom Design (below).

And Jo Turner took out third prize (below).

There were also three entries highly recommended by the judges; Kay Nelson, Cathy Jameson of Geyer and Belinda Wright of Tobias Partners who each took home an Eames Hang-it-All for their creative efforts.

Below are a few more images of the exhibition and entries. We’d like to thank everyone who entered the competition for making it such a success. We’ll be bringing you more Saturday in Design highlights over the coming week and we invite you to use the blog for your own feedback on how you enjoyed the day and which chair you like best… go on, make a comment!
